Aug. 20, 2018 “I was a teacher, and I’ll never forget what it’s like to be a teacher,” reflected Duval Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene as she sat down with the Communications Video team in the district-produced “Going Greene” video.

In “Going Greene,” the 33rd superintendent discusses how every role she has served as an educator – including teacher, assistant principal, and principal – has shaped her perspective and has given her an appreciation of how it takes everyone working as a team to ensure students are successful.

This forms the foundation of her Team Duval philosophy: That everyone at every level has an important role to play.

“People are people, and they first need to know how much you care about them before they can move to the next level,” Greene said. “I don’t want people working for me. But I hope I can inspire them to give their best effort every day that they come.”

In the roughly four-minute video, Greene talks more about Team Duval, the importance of being in schools and classrooms as often as she can, and her three priorities for the 2018-19 school year. They are:
  1. Achieving an A-rating for the district
  2. Safety and Security
  3. Financial Solvency
