Nov. 24, 2020 – Did you know DCPS is home to over 12,000 families that are connected to the federal government?
That makes Team Duval one of the top 10 most populated districts in the nation for federally-connected students.
This is important because the school district has the potential to receive federal funding for the purchase of textbooks, materials, personnel and other education related expenditures based on the number of federally-connected students enrolled in our schools.
That’s why the district ask families to complete the Federal Impact Survey each fall. The survey helps determine whether a student is federally-connected.
Federally-connected does not just mean military families. It includes:
- Active Duty Members of the Uniformed Services who work/live on Federal Property
- Active Full-Time Members of a foreign military who works/lives on Federal Property
- Civilians or Contractors who work on Federal Property
- Parent/Guardian who lives in Federally Supported Housing
The federal government collects this data from school districts and reimburses the district based on lost revenue from federally-connected properties.
The 2020 Federal Impact Aid survey period is open now through Dec. 19, and it’s completely online this year. Only one survey per household is required.
Families can access the survey link through their FOCUS Account or by clicking the link below.
