More than 25 employees earn certification, become teachers through S.T.A.R.T. initiative

June 30, 2021 – In 2019, a group of paraprofessionals and bookkeepers who aspired to become highly effective teachers began the journey of earning their certification through the school district’s new S.T.A.R.T.  program

Two years later, the district is proud to present the graduates of this inaugural class.

More than 25 individuals were honored on Tuesday, July 29 as graduates of the program. Each of them are now working as full-time classroom teachers within the school district.

The S.T.A.R.T.  program provides a pathway for school district employees to return to college, and have additional college and district support to obtain teaching credentials through partnerships with Florida State College at Jacksonville, Saint Leo University, and the University of North Florida.

A new class of more than 40 aspiring teachers were also recognized during the ceremony, and will begin their journey in the fall.
