July 6, 2021 – The first-ever African American History Writing Institute has come to an end, but students and staff say their work will go on.
Duval County Public Schools hosted the 3-week institute for high school students this summer. Students spent time gaining firsthand knowledge about key historical figures, places and events in Jacksonville’s history.
Students were also given the opportunity to help craft curriculum for those who teach African American history. Watch as students wrap up this unique experience by presenting research projects to peers and district leaders at Stanton College Preparatory School.
