Aug. 11, 2021 – The message below was shared with families Wednesday afternoon following numerous reports of transportation issues including late and no-show buses.
The district takes these concerns seriously and apologizes to all families impacted by this. It is working with its bus contractors to resolve these issues immediately.
Message from Dr. Greene
Dear families,
We are aware that the bus transportation for many of our students has not met your expectations or mine. While about 97 percent of routes are running without an issue, we realize this is an area where we need better performance.
I apologize if you are one of the families whose child has been impacted by long delays, and we are currently working with our bus contractors to improve service.
We are also improving our communication. This afternoon, we created a new web page that lists bus routes expected to be significantly late each morning and each afternoon. You can find this page at www.duvalschools.org/busdelays.
With this information, you will be able to make decisions about how to get your child to school or provide supervision until the bus does arrive. In the afternoon, you will be able to see if you can expect your children to be late coming home.
I hope the new web page is helpful to you, and I appreciate your patience and partnership as we work to get better each day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Diana Greene
Superintendent
