Oct. 18, 2021 – The way African American history is taught in Duval County Public Schools is changing, thanks to some notable new ideas being ushered in this school year.
This includes a new African American history book designed by the school district, for the school district. Additionally, two middle schools – Lake Shore and Springfield — are joining all high schools in Duval County by offering their own African American elective course. With plans to continue expanding, administrators say this is just the beginning.
