Oct. 27, 2021 – The district’s Teacher Leadership Academy is a professional development program that aims to transform our educators into change agents. Whether they’ve already gone through the academy or they’re a new participant, teachers we spoke to say this program is helping them become more confident and competent leaders.
“I think all teachers should want to take away from this, a way to build a better culture at their schools,” said Walter Nettles, a participant in the program who teaches math at Springfield Middle. “Because it starts with the culture. Once you build an environment where everyone is working together as a cohesive unit, then it trickles down to the kids.”
Team Duval News was there as district staff welcomed its newest Teacher Leadership Academy cohort. Watch to see what they’re learning, and how it ultimately leads to student success.
