Feb. 7, 2022 – It’s National School Counseling Week, and Team Duval is highlighting the tremendous impact counselors have in helping students achieve success and plan for the future.
Duval County Public Schools currently has more than 250 school counselors serving elementary, middle and high schools. Each day counselors are providing services that address the academic, social/emotional, and career needs of students. School counselors implement programs that include classroom school counseling lessons, small group, and individual counseling sessions.
School counselors are placed in schools so they can use their specific training to teach students the social and emotional skills necessary to cope in an everchanging works with respect for all people. They are collaborators in their schools working with their administration, teachers, parents, and community agencies to meet the needs of all children.
