Feb. 21, 2022 – Whether it’s learning to cook a soufflé, gain certification in web design, or fix a car, Team Duval students have dozens of pathways to achieve career success and college readiness through the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
With February being Career and Technical Education Month, Team Duval is highlighting its CTE programs.
Most people are familiar with the district’s nationally recognized magnet career academies: Frank H. Peterson and A. Phillip Randolph. However Duval County Public Schools actually offers 100 CTE programs and 245 CTE courses in high schools and middle schools across the district.
Additionally, 40 different CTE certifications are available through programs like Adobe Certified Associate, Certified Food Protection Manager, and Entrepreneurship and Small Business.
CTE is an educational pathway that provides students with the academic, technical, and employability skills and knowledge to pursue postsecondary training or higher education and enter a career field prepared for ongoing learning. CTE programs give purpose to learning by emphasizing real-world skills and practical knowledge.
